‘But
wait! There’s more!’
Lisa Morris, At-Large Member
Carmel High School
WHEN A NEW TEACHER ASKED WHY SHE SHOULD JOIN IHSPA,
I talked about services including the convention, the editors workshop,
critiques, contests, scholarships, internships, mentoring programs,
advocacy programs, the web resources and even the chat room.
All in all, a pretty terrific deal for $25. Feeling a little like
a Ginzu knife salesman, I actually said, “But wait! There’s
more!” And then I told her about what is for me, the best part
of IHSPA: The members.
When all members are factored in, the resources of IHSPA become vast.
The members have so much to share, and IHSPA serves as a terrific
clearinghouse for advice, ideas, teaching tools and camaraderie. As
a group, IHSPA members are welcoming and supportive, quick to lend
a hand to a colleague with a problem and equally quick to praise a
job well done.
No matter what your need, IHSPA can put you in touch with someone
who can help. No matter what your specialty, IHSPA can put your talents
to use. I encourage you to become more actively involved in IHSPA.
Whether you have a little time to give or a lot, IHSPA has a place
for you. Task team membership forms are on the website and some regional
support groups are forming. If you need more information, contact
Dennis Cripe, Diana Hadley, an officer or a task team leader.
