Student Press Law Center in Arlington, VA provides legal assistance and is an information clearinghouse devoted exclusively to protecting and educating the student press about its freedom of expression and freedom of information rights. All legal services are provided to the student media free of charge.

Hoosier State Press Association in Indianapolis is a service organization and "watchdog" for Indiana professional newspaper members. HSPA provides a "hotline" for its members and Stephen Key, director of governmental affairs, is an excellent resource for questions regarding public access and other press law issues.

National Scholastic Press Association/JEA site provides a wealth of sites related to the upcoming national conventions, sourcebook, critique guides and many other services.

American Society of Newspaper Editors Online provides information about works underway, ideas and issues, and a kiosk for online information and links to other news resources.

Pew Center for Civic Journalism is an excellent resource for students and/or teachers who might want to explore the implications of civic journalism, particularly as a model for curriculum development and as a philosphical basis for student publications.

The Poynter Institute Online outlines its many seminars and publications available through their organization headquartered in St. Petersburg, Fl. Poynter offers many materials that can be downloaded from their site.

The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund has an intersting link called "High School Teacher Programs" which details teacher award programs, fellowships, workshops and even tips from former "teacher of the year" winners. Also, there is a link to "High School Student Programs" as well.

The Thomas B. Fordham Foundation supports research, publications and action projects of national significance in elementary/secondary education reform. The Fordham Foundation has published an interesting study titled "Better Teachers, Better Schools" which is free upon request. I highly recommend it.
