'journalist of the year' wins $2,000 as a JEA finalist Ashley Gross, a senior at Connersville High School and Indiana's Student Journalist of the Year, was named as one of the nation's top five scholastic journalists this week. Gross will receive $2,000 from JEA for being a finalist in the national contest. new Hoosier Stars shine as state's best The search to find Indiana's best publications turned up10 new "stars" in the constellation that featured 50 schools. Carmel's Hi Lite is one of five newspaper Hoosier Stars (left) while Munster's "Code Red" yearbook (right) is one of five yearbooks to receive IHSPA's highest honor. Brenda Schindler (Martinsville), Diana Hadley (Mooresville), Brian Hayes (Lawrence North) and Meredith Bledsoe (Hamilton Southeastern) will lead the new outreach areas of "inclusion," "advocacy," "service," and "support."
